Lake Forest, IL (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - The Chicago Bears on Tuesday reached an agreement with Jeremy Bates to become the team's quarterbacks coach. Bates is familiar with Chicago starter Jay Cutler, having worked with him for three seasons in Denver.

 

Bates mostly recently served as the offensive coordinator for the Seattle Seahawks in 2010.

 

Joining the Steelers is a sort of homecoming for Haley, whose father, Dick, served as Pittsburgh's director of player personnel from 1971-90.

 

The Steelers won four Super Bowl titles in the 1970s with Dick Haley running the personnel department.

 

Prior to taking over the Chiefs, Todd Haley was the offensive coordinator for the Arizona Cardinals from 2007-08 under Ken Whisenhunt, who had been the Steelers' offensive coordinator before taking the Arizona head coaching job. The Cardinals scored a franchise-record 427 points in 2008 and reached the Super Bowl for the first time, losing to Pittsburgh.

 

The Steelers needed a new offensive coordinator after Bruce Arians left. The club said Arians was retiring, but he quickly took a position as the offensive coordinator with the Indianapolis Colts.

 

The 34-year-old veteran spent his first three NFL seasons with the New Orleans Saints, who traded all six of their choices in the 1999 draft, and two picks the following year, to move up and select the former Texas standout with the fifth overall pick in 1999.

 

Unable to play in the NFL in 2006, Williams inked a one-year deal with the Toronto Argonauts of the Canadian Football League. With the Argos, he rushed for 623 yards on 124 carries and caught 24 passes for 193 yards. He also missed two months of the season due to a broken arm.

 

For his career, Williams has run for 10,009 yards with 66 touchdowns in 147 NFL games.

 

Super Bowl MVP Eli Manning and defensive lineman Justin Tuck headlined the main float with the Vince Lombardi Trophy, which the Giants captured for a fourth time with a 21-17 victory over New England on Sunday in Indianapolis.

 

Head coach Tom Coughlin, general manager Jerry Reese and co-owners John Mara and Steve Tisch were also part of the main float that included New York City mayor Michael Bloomberg and New York governor Andrew Cuomo.
